click to enlarge the imageThe theme of this 9th edition of Geneva Reports on the World Economy is financial stability. Financial stability may be defined as the capacity of the financial system – financial intermediaries, markets and infrastructures – to withstand shocks, imbalances and the unravelling of these imbalances without materially impairing economic activity.
The Report examines the main threats to financial stability in the major industrial economies, with some discussion of the emerging economies to which they are most exposed. It focuses on the past two to three decades, during which the global financial system has changed fundamentally.
